A recent study to determine each state’s favorite Christmas movie revealed that I’m in line with most of the folks here in Texas. In fact, it’s also the most popular Christmas flick in the majority of states.

I must admit to being a sucker for Christmas movies. I typically watch several this time of year. The weird thing is that I don’t ever seek them out. Instead, I tend to tune in when I come across one of my favorites while I’m channel surfing.

The Die Hard Debate: What Really Counts as a Christmas Movie

Before we go any further, in my opinion, for a movie to be considered a Christmas movie, it has to be about Christmas. Christmas has to be the central theme. That’s why I’ve never considered Die Hard a Christmas movie. It’s an action movie that is set during the Christmas season. I mean, do you consider First Blood a Christmas movie because it’s set during Christmas? I sure don’t.

Alright, now that I’ve established my position in the endless Die Hard debate, let’s get to the results of the study by PixlParade. Overall, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is the favorite among the Texans polled in the survey. Certainly, we can agree that it’s a classic among classics.

As you might expect, A Christmas Story and Home Alone were also favorites in several states. Both are great Christmas movies, and you can bet I’ll be watching them in the coming weeks.
