Come On Out Wichita Falls and Cheer on the National Champion Midwestern State Mustangs
If you missed it Sunday afternoon, the Midwestern State Mustangs won the Division II Men's championship in soccer and you can welcome back the champions tonight.
For the first time ever, the men's soccer team for Midwestern State can call themselves national champions. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and trainers that made this possible. A lot of hard work was put in to make this happen and tonight Wichita Falls you're invited to welcome the champion team back home.
Welcome Home Celebration 9PM at D.L. Ligon Coliseum
Come on out to the Coliseum at Midwestern State University to celebrate the first ever national championship team in school history. You're encouraged to wear your maroon and gold. Plus fans can bring banners to celebrate their new champions as well.
Midwestern State Soccer Had FOUR Shut Out Games in the Playoffs
With Midwestern State being a four seed in this year's playoffs, they secured a first round bye. They would have to win five playoff games to win the championship. The old phrase for American football is 'defense wins championships' and that is true for our Midwestern State soccer team. They shut out the opponent in the championship game and only gave up two goals in the playoffs in total.
Congratulations to the six Mustangs that also made the all tournament team and a special shout out to Liam Pritchard who is a senior forward on the team. He was named Most Outstanding Player in the tournament for 2025.
So get out to D.L. Ligon Coliseum tonight and cheer on those Mustangs. Hopefully this is the first of many championships for Midwestern State University.
