Major Weather Moments in Oklahoma In 2025

This year was undoubtedly one for the books, but not because of politics or major historical moments. No, it was mainly because Oklahoma's weather pattern may as well have been on a pendulum, just bringing one extreme to another.

Between the dust storm in March, the devastating floods in April, to the weirdest winter we've seen in years, Oklahoma proved yet again that there's just no method to the madness.

Here are the top weather moments of the year that we will certainly never forget. In fact, they will likely end up in history books for younger generations to learn about.

Major dust storms in March in Oklahoma

We're used to high winds here, but definitely not what we saw in March 2025. Winds that reached up to 83 miles an hour brought insane amounts of dirt and smoke from wildfires.

Many people joked online about Oklahoma experiencing a second dust bowl, but the situation was a lot more serious than most realized. Traffic was completely halted after major wrecks from semi's being overturned by the wind, as well as low visibility because of the dust.

Luckily, we didn't see as much damage as we could have, but it was one experience most of us can agree we'd rather not relive.

Statewide flooding sets records in April

This year, Oklahoma had more rain this spring than we've seen in years. The rains continued for the longest time, causing major flooding disasters across the state in April. Despite the damage, Oklahoma was completely droughtless for the first time in six years because of all of the rain.

After a quiet, dry fall, winter takes a strange turn

Fall this year seemed fairly typical, but drier than usual. And this winter is continuing to trend the same way, excluding the tiny dose of precipitation we received at the beginning of December.

Despite how warm this Christmas proved to be, Oklahoma's cold season has not yet arrived. If you've lived here long enough, you know that most of Oklahoma's worst winter weather comes between January and February. But, then again, this year has been harder to predict than most years before.
