Chick-fil-A in Altus, Oklahoma is asking for Oklahoma's most talented artists that love community and love to share their art to step forward and help with a new project. They have a beautiful, blank fence that they would like to use as a canvas to promote artwork made by Oklahoma's own.

Murals, even if they take a moment to find, have proven to be beautiful additions to different communities, like in Lawton. Even those who simply pass through have something positive and unique to remember about their experience.

Here's how Oklahoma's talented painters can leave a lasting impression in the Altus community. Could we see more mural opportunities coming to other southwestern Oklahoma communities?

Chick-fil-A restaurant in Altus asking for local artists to apply to paint.

Although we all love a sleek, new look of good fence work, the Altus Chick-fil-A staff wanted to use the empty space as a canvas for community connection. "We're creating space for community," they shared on social media. "Outdoor events, local creativity, and a fence that will feature murals by local artists."

The fence stretches the length of the drive-thru and definitely has the space for several different artists to have a space of their own. We've reached out to the Chick-fil-A staff to find out if this is paying opportunity, but this more than likely is a chance to volunteer to help the community appear a little more beautiful than before.

Those who would like to submit their ideas for a mural on the new fence should reach out via Facebook to the Chick-fil-A in Altus.

Murals in Lawton communities that can be spotted.

Several paintings from local stars like the Shaw Brothers and the owner of the Vaska Theater, Justin Hackney, can be spotted in many places. You obviously can't miss the larger-than-life paintings of movie stars, cartoons and more on the side of the theater.

But there is actually an astonishing number of street art spots in Lawton, approximately 62 pieces. They've been painted on the sides of businesses, random buildings, structures, and more. You can see the entire list here. Even with this many pieces of artwork, there is always room for more.

New art work opportunities in Lawton?

Since Lawton gained several new restaurants last year, including our own second Chick-fil-A location on the west side, I don't personally think it would be a bad idea to see some of these businesses adapt a similar mindset as the Altus restaurant.

Not only are they incorporating local talent, but they're seeking ways to bring the community together, giving people something to do, and enhancing the place in a unique way. Why couldn't we similar things happen here in Lawton?

Luckily, we have places like SOB Brewing Company who seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to hosting community events and family-friendly, and adult, activities. But surely we could see more businesses start to follow the trend?
