UPDATE Sunday, January 11, 2025 at 3:15 p.m.: RJ Davis was located alive, and safe in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was taken with law enforcement to a hospital to receive care, although he was reported to be "healthy." Officials are unable to release more information as of now.

By now, most of Oklahoma and other parts of the nation have heard the name RJ Davis, who is a 12-year-old boy who was reported missing earlier this month. His case is growing increasingly concerning, especially after recent updates.

People are not only fighting to understand the situation, but also trying to make sure information that they're receiving is accurate. Unfortunately, false information has been affecting the search.

Here's what we know so far, including some suspicious aspects that everyone is starting to notice.

OHP sends an Endangered Missing Advisory, but people never received amber alerts.

Ryan RJ Davis, also known as Ryker Cole, was last seen on January 2, 2026, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, around 11:20 p.m. near the Quality Inn. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued an Endangered Missing Advisory (EMA) for Davis on January 5, 2026.

Days after the Advisory was announced, Davis' mother and stepfather were arrested with child abuse complaints. That's when it seems people began noticing that the situation was worse than originally believed.

One reason some may have not taken the situation as seriously, or known about Davis' disappearance, was because many people in Chickasha and neighboring counties reported never receiving an Amber Alert, or any alert, about his case.

@lashedandbronzedok I just wanna know y’all’s input on this because this is absolutely wild. I hope this boy is brought home safe. #chickashaok #missingpersons #oklahomatruecrime #truecrime #missingchild ♬ original sound - Hannah Donaldson

Amber Alerts differ from EMAs, as they are used in the most serious cases involving children under 18 being abducted, in imminent danger, and if there is enough descriptive information about the victim and abduction, according to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.

Davis' case did not meet Amber Alert criteria and therefore couldn't be released as one. However, it is unclear why it seems people in Chickasha and neighboring counties never received any alert at all.

Davis believed to be alive, despite 'heartbreaking' living situation with his parents.

Despite the fact that many people feared the worst when the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) joined in the search, their latest news still sounds hopeful. OSBI Public Information Officer, Hunter McKee, told KOCO News: "We do believe that he is still alive at this time, and so, we’re doing everything we can to locate him."

One of the most difficult obstacles for search efforts has been the recent rumor that Davis was found. Although we aren't sure where the rumor started, we do know that, as of 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, Davis has still not been located.

It is important during missing person searches to double check important information, such as where they were last seen, and if they've been found, with local authorities that are handling the case. Because of the misinformation that was being spread, Davis' search almost halted much earlier than it should've.

RJ Davis still currently missing, contact authorities with any relevant information.

With the latest news from officials, they believe RJ could still be between Grady and Caddo county. He was last seen wearing a red and black plaid shirt, dark jeans, and brown steel toed boots.
