Oklahoma’s Winter Chill Brings Icy Roads And Freezing Temps
Winter has officially arrived in Oklahoma, and a warm up is already around the corner. Oklahoma was hit with a mass of arctic air the weekend after Thanksgiving. And the first morning of December was met with freezing temperatures and slick roads.
For the days leading up to and following Thanksgiving, local meteorologists were anticipating some form of wintry precipitation Monday morning after the arctic air. However, the timing, location and amount still remained to be seen until Monday morning.
And the wintry precipitation did come Monday morning to Oklahoma. Portions of northern, central and northeast Oklahoma were met with slick bridges and overpasses early Monday morning. From midnight to 9 a.m. Monday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to over 300 accidents related to the wintry weather.
